Al Jazeera has spoken to White House officials about reports of a major arms sales deal with Israel.
The proposed $2.8bn sale of heavy bombs could be the largest of its kind in years.
It includes the sale of 40,000 one-ton bombs.
Israel’s extensive use of similar weapons in Gaza and Lebanon has sparked international condemnation.
