Kenya’s former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, now serving as a special envoy to South Sudan for the East African bloc IGAD, has expressed optimism after meeting with South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir. The talks aimed to revive a fragile peace deal as tensions escalate following the house arrest of First Vice President Riek Machar, who has been accused of connections with armed groups involved in recent attacks.
